Walkers brave showers on Westside BID’s canalside stroll

A dozen keen walkers braved the showers to join Westside BID’s stroll along the canalside last Thursday.

The 30-minute walk, organised by the BID to help local workers’ mental wellbeing, was organised with the Canal & River Trust and Coaches For Change, the BID’s wellbeing partners.

The gentle exercise started outside the Sea Life Centre and ended with light refreshments at the Canal House, where there was a talk from Birmingham Mind fundraising officer Kerrie Henry-Edge.

Luisa Huggins, marketing manager at Westside BID, said: “The guided walk was a real success,  despite the weather. We had a dozen walkers who thoroughly enjoyed themselves, plus they received an Easter hamper from the BID too.”

Coaches For Change say that going for a walk for just 30 minutes has a number of benefits, from controlling cholesterol levels and regulating blood pressure to improving mental health and wellbeing.

The well-being events are for BID members only. Anyone wanting more details about future events can email Luisa at luisa.huggins@westsidebid.co.uk.
