FOOD REVIEW: Broad Street’s newest place for lunches and weekend breakfasts

Hands up if you thought Snobs nightclub on Broad Street was always open from 10.30pm every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night for party lovers to let their hair down? Correct!

But now it’s also a place to go for live football and smart lunches seven days a week – or even weekend breakfasts the morning after the big party night before.

Lots of Westside’s nightlife visitors stay over in one of Broad Street’s several big hotels, so the idea of a clubland venue that will have been trading until at least 3.30am reopening within hours for weekend breakfasts isn’t as daft as it sounds.

Especially when you actually try the quality of the food which includes a traditional or veggie breakfast for £6 and a big breakfast for £10.

Snobs’ ground floor bar began serving food at the start of May and the ‘soft’ launch has now given its friendly staff the time to bed themselves in. More than a week later, we visited unannounced just after lunchtime.

The all-new decor is super-modern with LED light trails arcing overhead as we ordered a Snobs Burger (£9) with chunky chips (£2) and a Fish Finger Sandwich wrap (£5) served with even better value fries (£1).

Both meals had us licking our lips in terms of volume, price, juiciness and service with a smile. You can watch a mini-video of our food review here:

To complete our total bill of £20.40, we washed our food down with a J20 (£2.20) and a delightful sparkling water (£1.20).

If you want alcohol, then the Hobgoblin was a top quality pint when I returned another evening with friends who preferred to lap up the Spanish lager on tap. This was during Snobs Happy Hour with prices including two cocktails for £12 or two draught beers for £8, available from noon to 9pm, Monday to Thursday, and from noon to 6pm, Friday to Sunday.

Opening times. Snobs ground floor bar is now open from 2pm to 11pm on Monday and Tuesday, from noon to 11pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and from noon until ‘late’ on Friday. The bar will open at 10am for weekend breakfasts, staying open until ‘late’ on Saturday and until 8pm on Sunday.

Where is it? Snobs is at 200 Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1SU, served by buses galore and the Metro tram. Telephone 0121 643 5551 or email hello@snobsnightclub.co.uk.
