It is strike three – but definitely not out – for accomplished amateur photographer Elliott Brown.
Elliott has now completed a hat-trick of success after having one of his images of the Broad Street and Brindleyplace area published in the annual Westside BID calendar for the third year in succession.
His first calendar entry was for March 2022 with his photo of the outdoor Discovery Terrace at the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. He then used the same vantage point to snap an elevated picture of the metal ‘Raging Bull’ sculpture to represent July 2023.
And for the trio in this year’s calendar, Elliott took the above aerial image of the fountains in Central Square, Brindleyplace, for which he now wins £100 of vouchers to spend on Westside.
Elliott, aged 41, from Hall Green, who performs data entry and coding for a market research company, said: “I’m really happy to have been featured in the Westside BID calendar three years in a row.
“My photograph for May in this year’s calendar was taken from the top floor of Brindeyplace car park, which has a good view looking down to Central Square. I have been up there a few times in the past and wanted to zoom in on the fountain water jets as I hadn’t got them close up from there before now.”
Elliott, who took up digital photography more than 15 years ago while on holiday, said he was interested in the history of Birmingham. He particularly enjoys taking photos of the city’s buildings, statues and sculptures, with an emphasis on aerial images from the roof of the new library and elsewhere.
He added that he now plans to use his winning voucher at The Coconut Tree Sri Lankan restaurant on Gas Street.
