BOX revealed: full details about new sports bar on Brindleyplace

Full details have emerged about the sports bar called BOX that is set to open to the public in Brindleyplace on Saturday 3 June.

The new venue, which Westside World first revealed last month here, will be spread over two floors and will cover more than 10,000 sq ft, big enough to hold up to 575 guests.

Dozens of jobs are being created by BOX, which is getting ready for the FA Cup showdown between Manchester United and Manchester City at 3pm on the very day it opens.

Located in the old Pizza Express spot on Brindleyplace, the ground floor boasts an impressive open kitchen, and an island bar surrounded by 32 top-of-the-range TV screens for guests to watch live sport. BOX will also feature two 18-foot maple wood European Shuffleboard tables for guests to play on.

There will be a live band every Friday and Saturday night playing favourite floor-fillers, along with a resident ‘Bandeoke’ hosted every Thursday night, where guests can perform on stage with a band. BOX also has a karaoke room, with another bar and private dining room upstairs, and an outdoor area for up to 30 guests.

Drinks will range from cocktails to IPA beer, and the food menu includes a range of burgers, kebabs and pizzas, including a pizza fondue – a triple cheese-stuffed pizza dough smothered in garlic butter, with melted cheese and pizza sauce.

Alison Moody, general manager at the new BOX, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be opening our biggest venue ever, as we gear up for a summer of fun. We love Birmingham and we’re confident BOX will quickly become a popular addition to the incredible nightlife and bar scene here.”

The BOX on Brindleyplace will be bar group Arc Inspirations’ 20th UK venue, replicating the design of its site in Deansgate, Manchester. The fast-expanding group, which recently opened Manahatta in Sheffield, also plans to unveil two more grand openings in Newcastle and Nottingham this year.
