Dozens of jobs will be created when a new sports bar called BOX opens in the former Pizza Express building on Brindleyplace in early June.
Bar group Arc Inspirations is busy transforming the property into its 20th UK venue, replicating its two-floor design of its site in Deansgate, Manchester.
The fast-expanding group has also recently opened Manahatta in Sheffield, and as well as the Birmingham launch it has plans to unveil two more grand openings in Newcastle and Nottingham later this year.
This includes bars in the 12,000 sq ft former All Saints store on Thurland Street, Nottingham, and in a former Allied Irish Bank branch on Collingwood Street, Newcastle.
Arc Inspiration’s recent growth has seen several multi-million-pound venue launches following investment in the business by the Business Growth Fund, said to be creating up to 500 jobs overall.
The new opening in Brindleyplace comes after a period of strong trading for BOX, where like-for-like sales in the six weeks to the end of 2022 were up 22% year-on-year.
The Deansgate site in Manchester posted a company record gross sales week in early December 2022, turning over more than £200,000 thanks to two England games in the World Cup and Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora III.
Arc has also announced its first ever company-wide summer party. Arc In The Park will take place at a secret location on 4 July, with all 20 sites closing for the day while more than 1,000 team members enjoy a festival experience, with drinks and music set to be provided courtesy of suppliers and partners.
The operator has also recently revealed the names of the 26 team members selected for the company’s annual incentive ski trip to Meribel. Those chosen are the company’s top performers in its Diamond Leadership table, who have delivered outstanding performance.
Martin Wolstencroft, co-founder and chief executive of Arc, said: “The 2023 year is going to be transformational for us, so we’re delighted to have delivered such an incredible opening for Manahatta in Sheffield.
“This has been a fantastic effort from all our team, who have worked together to open so smoothly and with such great impact, resulting in brilliant feedback and very encouraging trading so far.
“As we continue to grow, it becomes more important than ever to attract and retain the best people, and we’re always looking at ways to incentivise and reward them for their hard work.
“Our Meribel trip is the stuff of legend within the company, and we’re very excited about putting on the mother of all summer parties for all our people at Arc in the Park.”
