New vlog: don’t miss the cherry blossom on Westside

It’s one of the wonders of Westside, the cherry blossom in Oozells Square, Brindleyplace. Every year they never fail to please, such is the beauty that implodes in the eye, as you take in their stark delight and natural splendour.

Take a peek at the cherry blossom in the latest Olley’s Oracles here:

Yet this year, it’s just that extra bit special. The extraordinary visual impact of Brindleyplace’s cherry blossom is down to recent weather. Highs and lows have nurtured the buds to give a fulsome flowering offering, that is currently on display.

We can normally expect the flowering to last for a good two weeks, even in a bad year. This year is exceptional, so we could get three to four weeks in total. In any event, if you want to see this wonder of Westside, you have got another week or so.

As you can see from my recent visit, it’s a popular natural event, with no end of keen beauty lovers snapping away at what is undoubtably a true wonder of Westside.

Also known as the Japanese cherry or Sakura. Not to be confused with a cherry tree, the cherry blossom produces delightful flowers, yet sadly no cherries.

Interestingly, the flower is the national symbol of Japan, indeed the Japanese rugby team is known as the Brave Blossoms.

Live now, giving a true visual delight, but for a limited period, right here in delightful Brindleyplace, Westside.
