Review: Nativity! The Musical at the Rep on Westside

A star-studded cast in Nativity! The Musical wowed the audience as they erupted into song and dance at the Rep theatre last night.

Those watching were overwhelmed with joy and left full of festive cheer by the show, with runs on Westside until 7 January 2023.

The show, which has returned after its world premiere at the Rep back in 2017, was a vibrant energetic production based on the film, written by BAFTA and Emmy award-winning writer Debbie Isitt.

The production was absolutely incredible, and you just you can’t help but smile from ear to ear watching it. The actors and actresses are out of this world, and it really puts you into the festive spirit.

It’s a wonderful production suitable for families and friends, and you really don’t want to miss this. It was a real honour to have a production of this nature in Westside, and I’ll definitely be watching it again before the 7 January.

One of those starring on stage was Ayana Freckleton, a neice of Elaine Weir, Westside BID’ business liaison manager. I know from talking to Elaine that Ayana has faced personal tragedy in recent months and so it was so courageous of her to continue her role.

Sean Foley, artistic director at the Rep, said: “Many world premieres have graced our stages, and many world class actors, directors, writers and designers have created work here that has lived long in the memories of those who saw it.

“The REP is a special theatre in a special city, and we are thrilled to continually present world-class shows and a diversity of voices and stories across our three stages”
