Video: sneak preview of amateur artists’ ‘fantastic’ work at Velvet Music Rooms

Some of Birmingham’s leading amateur artists are holding a new exhibition of their works on Westside next week.

‘Forward Together’ will be launched at Velvet Music Rooms on Broad Street on 18 October and is expected to run at the venue for three months.

The exhibition will feature pictures from members of Birmingham Art Zone including Rachel Akers, Kirk Andrews, Melanie Berman, Mandy Clifford, Paula Gabb and Charlotte Jones.

Other BAZ artists displaying pictures will be Sadie Kaye, Zoe Oakley, Helen Owen, Khalid Rashid, Janice Rider, Paul Riding, Helen Roberts, Mark Roberts and Nat Wallbank.

Take just two minutes to watch this sneak preview of some of the pictures in the exhibition:

The exhibition will be the second one that BAZ has held at Velvet Music Rooms after Westside BID spotted their work and introduced them to Dani Hadley, co-owner at Velvet, earlier this year.

Mike Olley, general manager at Westside BID, said: “We are thrilled to have brought Birmingham Art Zone’s talented members to Westside and they have already created one wonderful exhibition at Velvet.

“The quality of their works is underlined by the fact that they are now about to launch their second exhibition with yet more fantastic art, creating another reason for people to visit the venue.”

Dani Hadley, co-owner at Velvet Music Rooms, said: “We are really excited to be hosting BAZ’s second art exhibition at Velvet.

“We are so impressed with the colour, vibrancy and skills they create with their art and we love the fact that we can display them on our walls.

“Art lovers are very welcome to come to view them and will hopefully enjoy all the other entertainment we offer here on Broad Street.”

The launch of ‘Forward Together’ takes place at 6pm on Tuesday 18 October and is then open from 2pm Monday to Thursday, from 12 noon to 4am on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11am to midnight on Sundays.
