Win cash, exhibition space and see your photo shine in Westside’s 2023 calendar competition

Calling all amateur photographers: have you got a picture that deserves to host a month in Westside’s 2023 calendar?

If you have, you could also win one of £1,000 worth of prizes AND see your photograph displayed in a new exhibition on Westside.

Westside Business Improvement District (BID) is inviting anyone living, working or visiting the area to send in the very best picture they have taken in and around Birmingham’s ‘golden mile’ during the last year.

All entries must arrive by 10 November 2022 to be reviewed by a judging panel, with the best twelve images each hosting a month in the BID’s 2023 calendar, and the overall winning picture used as the calendar cover.

The overall winner will receive a £175 gift voucher to eat out on Westside, and the other eleven winners will each receive a £75 gift vouchers.

Westside BID will also pay to print and frame all 12 pictures for the photographers to display in their very own VIP exhibition at a venue on Broad Street in the spring of 2023.

Mike Olley, general manager at Westside BID, explained that the competition followed the popular one that ran in 2022 and resulted in the district’s current 2022 calendar.

Mr Olley said: “We were overwhelmed with the quality of pictures that we received last year that really shone a light on the great photography taking place on Westside.

“We now not only want entries for our 2023 calendar but also want to make even more of a fuss of the talented winners, hence our ‘win, win, win’ format for this competition.

“Each winner will a cash voucher prize, will host a page in the 2023 calendar and will be the focus of our first ever Westside photographic exhibition, to be attended by all the great and good of the district.

“All year we’ve been watching various amateur photographers posting magnificent pictures of Westside across social media and we’d now like to see the best of these shots competing to host pages in our 2023 calendar.”
