Scooter riders meet up at Black Sabbath bench on fund-raising tour for Acorns

Scooter riders from across Birmingham converged on Broad Street’s world-famous Black Sabbath ‘heavy metal’ bench as part of their fund-raising tour for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Howard, one of the leader riders, said: “We’re here today raising money for the Acorns on a big Birmingham clubs ride out.

“The clubs here include the Old Fellas, the Pink Slippers, the Lounge Lizards, South Birmingham Scooter Club, East Birmingham Scooter Club, the Blue 62s, Peaky Blinders and Modern World.”

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “Broad Street is such an eclectic place and it’s amazing the sort of characters we meet up here.

“We’re so proud that the Black Sabbath bench has become a common meeting place for all types of folk, including Howard and his pals who were raising funds for the wonderful Acorns Hospice.

“Thanks Howard, and all your mates – you’re really nice guys, so please come again!”
