The Brasshouse set to reopen to reveal major refurbishment on leap year day!

The owners of The Brasshouse on Broad Street are investing serious money in a major refurbishment.

The popular cask ales, pub food, live TV sport and music venue is expected to reopen its doors to reveal sparkling new fixtures and fittings on leap year day – Thursday 29 February.

The works started just a week after The Brasshouse was named the Pub of the Year in the Wonders of Westside 2024 Awards, with manager Chris Mason also picking up the Pub Manager of the Year trophy.

The refurbishment means guests will enjoy the venue even more during what is expected to be a busy summer, with the 40th anniversary of the Birmingham Jazz Festival taking place in July, as well as the Uefa Euro 2024 tournament in June and July..

The historical, Grade II-listed pub is understood to be Broad Street’s oldest watering hole, with records stating it was established in 1781.

The Brasshouse is part of Great UK Pubs, which in turn is owned by parent company Stonegate. Asked about the nature, scale and cost of the makeover, a Stonegate spokesperson teased: “We are looking into this for you.”

Meanwhile, there is plenty of investment taking place at other Westside venues. The Slug & Lettuce at Waters Edge, Brindleyplace is also currently being refurbished, and The Bulls Head on Bishopsgate Street will soon reopen as an Indian desi pub.
