Go green at Christmas with a visit to Broadway Plaza

They won’t be thinking of a white Christmas at Westside’s Broadway Plaza over the festive period.

Instead, the retail centre will very much have protection of the environment in mind as it plans to offer customers a ‘greener’ Christmas instead.

While the festive season is all about giving, Broadway Plaza is looking to provide its green-minded shoppers with an environmentally friendly alternative to the usual material presents likely to be swapped on the big day.

The centre, located near to the Five Ways roundabout off Broad Street, is encouraging visitors to opt for a sustainable gifting experience instead of more traditional Christmas presents.

It is encouraging shoppers to buy sustainable presents in the form of gift cards with a number of outlets, including the Rock Up indoor climbing centre, Odeon Luxe cinema, Frankie & Benny’s restaurant, and Mr Mulligans adventure golf centre, already signing up.

Natal Chapman, Centre Manager for Broadway Plaza, said: “Sustainability plays an im-portant role in our decision-making process. I believe many of us realise the tremen-dous impact of climate change and are keen to take steps wherever possible to reduce our carbon footprint and increase sustainability.”

The centre previously launched a variety of green initiatives, including a Christmas Card Recycling scheme that has so far raised more than £1,000 for various local charities.

Added Natal: “We are becoming more aware of our impact on the environment in which we live and for shoppers looking to reduce this, we’re certainly encouraging them to visit our venues and gift experiences with friends and family over socks and novelty presents instead.”

As part of its efforts to inspire visitors to exchange their white Christmas for a greener one, Broadway Plaza is also giving customers the chance to win a day out at the centre, with £100 worth of Frankie & Benny’s vouchers as well as four cinema tickets to Odeon Luxe.
