Yes! Prog rock legends finally rearrange Westside date

Veteran rock band Yes are to perform in front of their loyal fans at Symphony Hall in June – almost a year after the original concert was called off.

Yes, who were formed in 1968, will be taking to the road on their ‘Classic Tales Of Yes’ tour following a successful spell in the US.

The pioneers of progressive rock were due to have played at Symphony Hall on 10 June 2023, but the concert was postponed due to circumstances ‘beyond the band’s control’.

Their fans can now see the band at the same Centenary Square venue on 1 June, with all tickets purchased for the 2023 date remaining valid.

Grammy award-winning Yes will be drawing on a rich back catalogue that has resulted in sales of more than 50 million records when they play at Symphony Hall.

They are set to perform music from classic albums such as Fragile, The Yes Album, Close To The Edge, Yessongs (a triple live album set), Tales From Topographic Oceans, and Relayer, right up until their 23rd album, Mirror To The Sky, released last year.

The show will feature a gallery in the foyer of Symphony Hall by Roger Dean, whose striking artwork graced the band’s album covers and posters.  He is also planning to be at each show on tour, including Birmingham.

Geoff Downes, who joined Yes in the 1980s, said: “We’re very much looking forward to bringing the Classic Tales of Yes Tour to the UK.

“It promises to be one of our most interesting sets to date, scanning through much of Yes’s history and with some previously unheard pieces together with music from out latest album, Mirror To The Sky. As always, we’re committed to pushing new boundaries and are very excited to be performing another chapter in the rich legacy of the band.”

Formed by Jon Anderson and the late Chris Squire, Yes were inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017.

The band also lost drummer Alan White, ever-present in the line-up for 50 years, in 2022, with Jay Schellen chosen to step into his mentor and friend’s role.
