Help raise money with Broadway Plaza for charity supporting Birmingham children

Staff and shoppers alike at a Westside shopping centre are being urged to dig deep in aid of a Birmingham children’s charity.

Broadway Plaza will be taking part in the national One Great Day event which is being held on Monday 21 August between 11am and 3pm.

The annual UK-wide fundraising day is in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity in London and another local children’s charity close to the heart of each participating venue.

Money raised from the Broadway Plaza event will be shared with the Birmingham Children’s Community Centre which serves as a vital resource for families dealing with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities among children aged 0-19.

The charity’s services provide essential support and engagement for families in need across Birmingham.

One of the main features of the Broadway Plaza event will be a mouth-watering cake bake sale which will be held outdoors within the centre.

There will also be an enticing raffle involving fabulous prizes, including experiences and merchandise, from Odeon Luxe cinema, Hollywood Bowl bowling alley, and Rock Up indoor climbing centre.

A spokesperson said: “Broadway Plaza extends an invitation to all, encouraging participation in the event to contribute to worthy causes and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families.”

One Great Day, which is a registered charity, was established in 2014, having been initiated by the parents of a boy who received care at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Since then, it has raised almost one million pounds for more than 330 different children’s health charities across the country.

A One Great Day spokesperson said: “Our aim is to inspire, engage and empower our community to make a difference by getting involved in a series of local fundraising events held within each shopping centre across the UK on One Great Day!”
