NEW PICTURE: photographer’s perfect timing captures CBSO tram on Centenary Square

One of Birmingham’s most prolific amateur photographers has cleverly captured a Metro tram adorned with CBSO advertising right outside the orchestra’s venue on Centenary Square.

Elliott Brown, who works as a senior data entry clerk, is regularly out and about across the city snapping new developments and urban scenes that often include transport and architecture.

Commenting on his new shots, Elliott tweeted: “After weeks of waiting, finally captured the CBSO tram at the Library tram stop.”

Elliott, aged 40, who was interviewed by Westside World last year when he was one of the prize winners in our 2022 calendar competition, explained his passion for photography.

He said: “I then started taking photos around my home city of Birmingham from about 2009, as well as other areas in the West Midlands such as Stratford-upon-Avon.

“I’m interested in Birmingham history and mostly take photos of buildings, new as well as old, and statues, sculptures and public transport.

“It gets me out of the house and I get to walk and explore where I go, and learn the history of places when I later process and edit my photos to go up onto Flickr.”

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “Once again Elliott has successfully captured a moment of civic and transport pride on Westside, and we’re always thrilled to see his work.”

Westside World will be interviewing Elliott again in the next few weeks to celebrate his success in the BID’s 2023 calendar, with another of his pictures set to host the month of July. Watch this space!
