Theatre lovers face gripping suspense, violent scenes and adult themes when The Girl on the Train opens at The Crescent Threatre this weekend.
Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel’s stage adaptation of the exciting thriller is based on Paula Hawkins’ international bestselling novel that became a Hollywood blockbuster.
Rachel Watson longs for a different life, and her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love.
Or so it appears. When Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a breath-taking mystery where she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated.
Lead actor Grace Cheatle never leaves the stage during the two-and-a-half hour production, which also stars David Baldwin as Detective Gaskill in a cast that includes Oliver Jones, Charlotte Thompson, Papa Yentumi, Vicky Youster and Tom Lowde.
The Girl on the Train runs at The Crescent from Saturday 25 February until Saturday 4 March, with an After Dark session to meet and chat with members of the cast and creative team after the performance on Friday 3 March.
Performances are at the Sheepcote Street theatre’s main house from 7.30pm every day except Sunday and Monday, and there are also afternoon matinees on Sunday 26 February and Saturday 4 March.
