More hands needed on stage at Birmingham Repertory Theatre

A whole ‘cast’ of new jobs are ‘up for audition’ at The Rep theatre on Broad Street.

The Centenary Square venue is looking for a variety of new roles to maintain its success both on and off the stage.

Among the posts waiting to be filled is that of hospitality manager, which involves working across the conference, banqueting and events programme with a significant focus on hospitality and operations.

This role will be to oversee all events, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and the food and hospitality service is of a high quality.

Next up is a technical events manager who will manage all technical aspects of the conference and events business, with responsibility for managing and leading a team.

There are two roles available within the fundraising department – a senior fundraising officer and a fundraising assistant. The senior role is described as “integral” to supporting The Rep’s mission.

The advert reads: “As a charity, fundraising income is vital in enabling The Rep to survive and thrive. It is essential that we continue to grow this income and secure the required funding for our activities both on and off stage including our extensive creative learning, artist development and community engagement programmes.”

The fundraising assistant will support the team in developing “compelling campaigns and prepare to launch new supporter schemes”.

On the food side of the business, The Rep is looking for a chef de partie who will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of “high quality” dishes. As part of the role, the theatre would offer the opportunity to progress to sous chef through on-the-job training.

There is also a new role for café bar staff who will have responsibility for ensuring customers have a first-class visitor experience. They will be “vital to the smooth running of the front of house hospitality”.

The Rep is also looking for a financial controller to manage the finance team and all financial systems and processes used in the organisation. The role also supports the finance director on preparation of the monthly and annual accounts for the charity.

In addition, a finance officer – purchase ledger is wanted to work within the finance office with responsibility for managing invoice processing and payments, and other accounting activities.

Meanwhile, an events and technical project coordinator is needed to work within The Rep’s sales and events office.

And, finally, casual technicians are being sought to provide technical services, and to install, operate and maintain staging and technical equipment for The Rep productions.
