Photos flood in for Westside’s 2023 calendar competition, with just two weeks to deadline

Dozens of pictures taken by amateur photographers have already been submitted for Westside’s 2023 calendar competition, with just two weeks to go until the entry deadline.

Each winner will host a month in next year’s calendar, collect one of £1,000 worth of prizes AND see their photograph displayed in a new exhibition on Westside.

The competition is open to anyone living, working or just visiting the area who has taken a photograph they are proud of in and around Birmingham’s ‘golden mile’ during the last year.

All entries must arrive by 10 November 2022 when they will be reviewed by a judging panel, with the best twelve images each hosting a month and the overall winner also getting one of their pictures used as the calendar cover.

The overall winner will then receive a £175 gift voucher to eat out on Westside, with the other eleven winners each receiving a £75 gift voucher.

Westside BID will also pay to print and frame all 12 pictures for the photographers to display in their very own VIP exhibition at a venue on Broad Street in the spring of 2023.

Mike Olley, general manager at Westside BID, said: “We’re thrilled to have already received some great pictures which show some hidden talent out there in the amateur photographic community.

“This is a great chance for us to celebrate the fast-changing face of Westside through the lenses of it’s residents, workers and visitors.”

How to enter:

  • Entries must be submitted digitally via a WeTransfer link sent to danielle.robinson@westsidebid.co.uk.
  • No other forms of entry will be accepted.

  • Entrants grant the organiser a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit the images on its website, social media, printed 2023 calendar, and in an exhibition to be held in 2023.
  • The overall winner will receive £175. The other eleven winners will receive £75. All winners will receive three copies of the calendar. All winners’ names will be included on the calendar, and all winners will appear in an exhibition to be held in 2023.
  • Winners will be announced in December 2022. The decision of the organiser is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition’s judging and organisation.
