One Great Day awaits visitors to Broadway Plaza later this month

Visitors to Westside will be able to enjoy a fun-filled family day out as part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations taking place in Birmingham this summer.

Broadway Plaza is to host an action-packed charity event called One Great Day on 30 July, which coincides with the Commonwealth Games marathon passing along Broad Street on its way to the finishing line in Victoria Square.

To help stage the event, Broadway Plaza has partnered with Birmingham sporting charity Sport 4 Life, which supports children and young people by providing them with sports-themed educational and job opportunities.

One Great Day will take place between 11am and 4pm, with representatives from Sport 4 Life present to run short sporting workshops for the public throughout the day, such as basketball shoots, boxing training and various football tricks.

They will also be on hand to talk about their charity and the help they provide to young people.

Alongside the sporting activities there will also be a Charity Raffle held at Frankie and Benny’s, a face painter, mascot walkabouts and prizes to be won!

The event is completely free to attend, however donations are requested, with all proceeds from the day split evenly between Sport 4 Life and One Great Day’s chosen charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Broadway Plaza will have a variety of store offers for families to enjoy throughout the day including a family competition to win a set of four tickets to Odeon Luxe and an exclusive 2-4-1 offer at Mr Mulligans on event day.

Natal Chapman, centre manager at Broadway Plaza, said: “We are really pleased to be at the heart of the community, and this is a wonderfully fitting celebration for the Commonwealth Games.”
