Fitness fanatics in Birmingham are being urged to flex their wallets as well as their muscles during a partnership with a local food charity.
The Gym Birmingham Broad Street is joining forces with its other sites across the region to provide vital support for those in need.
Each of the seven sites in The Gym Group throughout the city area have installed a food donation basket for members to donate what they can.
This will culminate in the general managers of all the participating sites of The Gym dropping off their collected donations to the food bank on 29 October, ready to be distributed to local residents.
Danika Neal, general manager of The Gym Birmingham Broad Street, said: “Seven of The Gym Group sites across the Birmingham region have joined forces to support Feedo Needo with giving back to our community.
“Each site houses a food donation basket and we are encouraging members to donate tinned goods and toiletries to help us support the charity.”
She said this was an ongoing partnership with the food bank charity, adding: “We will continue to do this on the last Friday of every month to support Feedo Needo.”
Luisa Huggins, communications manager at Westside BID, said: “We are delighted that our Westside businesses continue to support charities in a variety of ways.
“We hope that members of The Gym Group will do their bit to support Feedo Needo, particularly in the run-up to winter and Christmas.”
Birmingham-based Feedo Needo is a community development non-profit organisation that offers food and basic necessities to those in need amongst the local community.
The charity, founded in 2006, offers free food to people regardless of race, gender, religion and ability. For more details, visit www.feedoneedo.org.uk.
