Rocking blues band on the ‘road’ at live Westside music venue

The combined talents of iconic bands Dr Feelgood, Badfinger and The Specials are coming to Westside in the form of a rock and blues ‘dream team’ performing on Broad Street tomorrow night (Tue 19).

The Dirt Road Band will be dropping in at The O Bar on Tuesday 19th when they take to the stage as part of the venue’s regular free Tuesday night live Henry’s Blueshouse gigs.

The outfit is made up of leading musicians from top UK bands who will be hitting Broad Street with their own personal take on rocking and rolling Goodtime Blues.

The Dirt Road Band is the brainchild of singer and guitarist Steve Walwyn, best known as the longest serving guitar player in Dr. Feelgood, who he appeared with for 32 years until 2021. He has also been in Eddie & The Hot Rods, Steve Marriott Band and The D.T.s.

Joining him is bass guitarist Horace Panter, who formed The Specials with Jerry Dammers, and featured with them until the band’s break up in 1981. He then went on to play in General Public with Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger from The Beat, until The Specials reformed in the 1990s.

Completing the line-up is in-demand drummer Ted Duggan, who previously featured in Badfinger, The Selector, Desmond Dekker, and The Beat, as well as recording with Elton John and The Drifters.

Steve Walwyn says of the band: “I’d always liked the idea of the power trio, stripping everything back to the basics. Guitar, bass and drums.”

Doors open at The O Bar on Tuesday 19 at 7pm, with the show at 8pm. Admission is free.
