Alice Cooper brings ‘shocking’ live show to Westside

Expect snakes, guillotines and ‘monsters’ on Westside later this year when a rock legend comes to Birmingham.

Alice Cooper, regarded by many as ‘the Godfather of Shock Rock, is bringing his havoc-wreaking live show to the Utilita Arena in King Edward’s Road on 16 October.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee remains one of the greatest rock experiences after a 60-year career that has resulted in the sale of more than 50 million records.

Alice and his award-winning band are returning to the UK for the first time since 2022 with their arena tour.

The Too Close For Comfort tour will bring fans closer than ever to the stage with giant video screens blending the live action with pre-recorded scenes to delve deeper into Alice’s world.

Amid all the spectacle, fans can expect to hear Alice Cooper classics such as “Schools Out”, “Poison”, “Under My Wheels,” “I’m Eighteen,” and “Billion Dollar Babies,” as well as the promise of surprises every night, drawn from one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll back catalogues.

Fresh from the success of his latest album, ‘Road,’ a concept album about the thrills and spills of touring, Alice is back, accompanied as always by his long-running live band of Ryan Roxie (guitar), Chuck Garric (bass), Tommy Henrikson (guitar), Glen Sobel (drums), and Nita Strauss (guitar).

Alice said: “For ‘Road’, I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs. I only see these guys when we’re on the road. So, I wanted them to be as tight as they are for the show but on all new material.

“When you have a band this good, I believe in showing it off, and this is my way of doing so.”

Alice Cooper will be supported at the Utilita Arena by Glasgow rock band Primal Scream. Frontman Bobby Gillespie cites Alice’s shocking appearances on 1970s Top of the Pops as a formative influence.
