Gerald Manton, the chairman of Westside BID, had a “fantastic” afternoon of culture and sporting fun with his family in the district on Sunday.
Gerald, his wife Sareena and children Harrison, Oliver and Charlie started by viewing the ten-metre high ‘raging bull’ from the Commonwealth Games’ opening ceremony, now drawing huge crowds to Centenary Square.
The family then toured various bars to take part in the unCommonman Games, winning medals in the Figure of Eight for top performances in Speed Smash, the red and green light whacking game.
They also played Batak, hitting white lights in The Malthouse, and Bomb Squad, basically bursting balloons in O’Neills, a bar where stayed to watch England’s women beat Germany 2-1 to clinch the Euro 2022 trophy.
Gerald said: “We had a great afternoon and enjoyed what was a brilliant buzz about the town. The giant bull was amazing, and we had such fun playing in the various unCommonman Games. And to watch England beat Germany as well just topped off what was a fantastic day.”

The UnCommonman Games continue from between 12 noon and 8pm this Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August at the following venues: Walkabout, The Figure of Eight, Heidi’s Bier Bar, Broadway Plaza, Rock Up (5pm to 6pm only), Mr Mulligans, The Malthouse and O’Neills.
There is also a closing ceremony from 7pm to 10pm on Monday 8 August at Heidi’s Bar.
