New Indian restaurant offers ‘bounty of beautiful flavours’ at Park Regis

The Park Regis Hotel on Westside is getting ready to open its new Indian restaurant called Indus on Friday 6 May.

Indus will replace the hotel’s former 1565 restaurant on the 4th floor of the hotel, although the existing bar and terrace will remain.

Head chef Manish Patel, who has worked in five-star hotels in India, is set to bring “family spices and years of tradition” to the new eatery

Levi Bailey, manager at the Park Regis, said: “Our restaurant celebrates the traditions, life and culture of India and its bounty of beautiful flavours, aromas and spices through our specially curated menus of magnificent dishes.”

Indus is the name of a river that runs through the Asian sub-continent, and this was the name that ‘India’ originated from.

Signature dishes at Indus will include Haddi Wala Ghost (mutton on the bone slowly cooked in a rich almond, onion and aromatic spices) and a delicately flavoured Goan Machhi (spicy goan fish curry simmered in coconut milk and toddy vinegar).

The restaurant will have a traditional tandoor clay oven, producing classics like tikka and kebabs. Food is priced from around £7.50 for street dishes like samosas and papri chaat (tortillas) while a biryani is priced from £17.
