Picture of illuminated Brindleyplace chosen as April winner in BID calendar

The magical attraction of Westside at night is beautifully captured in this colourful photo.

And so impressed were the judges of the image of an illuminated Brindleyplace with its fountains at the forefront that it was suitably rewarded with a place in Westside BID’s calendar for 2022.

The stunning photo, taken by self-described ‘Brummiephile’ Simon Felton, was selected by a judging panel to represent the month of April in the annual calendar.

It follows previous images for the months of January to March reflecting the city centre canal network and the Library of Birmingham in Broad Street.

Just as with all the other monthly photo winners chosen for the calendar, Simon gets to receive £75 worth of vouchers to spend in selected Westside venues.

Simon, who variously describes himself as an urban design student and ‘lapsed bellringer’, has a huge collection of photos of Birmingham to his name, many of which are displayed on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Flickr.

BID general manager Mike Olley said: “Congratulations to Simon for winning a place in the calendar with his highly visual and colourful image of Brindleyplace.

“We would encourage visitors to come and experience what Westside has to offer for themselves, not only at night like this photo but during the day as well.”
