REVIEW: star pianist Isata’s ‘perfect performance’ in Birmingham

Keen music fans in Birmingham were treated to a special performance by award-winning rising star pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason.

Isata is one of the seven Kanneh-Mason siblings who have wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent with their extraordinary musical abilities.

And on Monday 25 November, she played the UK premiere of a new piece by Jamaican composer Eleanor Alberga to an audience at Birmingham Town Hall.

This had been commissioned by the Barbican Centre in London and the European Concert Hall Organisation, in collaboration with B:Music.

I had such pleasure attending the performance with hundreds of others who had flocked to the city to get a glimpse of the UK’s rising star.

It was an honour to listen to the incredible talent of this young lady who is amazingly gifted and shows an incredible passion and enthusiasm for music. This was a perfect musical performance that really got people in the feel-good mood and ready for Christmas.

Just like her brother Sheku, Isata has recently been the talk of the music world, winning the prestigious Leonard Bernstein Award in 2021. Spotted by Sir Elton John in 2013, she has now also been named ECHO Rising Star 2021-2022 by B:Music.

Birmingham is so fortunate to host some of the UK’s most prestigious and renowned arts and entertainment destinations, which also include Westside’s Symphony Hall.

In the run up to Christmas, they have a variety of performances suitable for friends and family. For more information visit: Home | B:Music (bmusic.co.uk)
