It’s that WOW-erful time of the year on Westside

Most people are getting ready for Christmas, but Westside BID team members are busy organising the district’s WOWs awards for January. MIKE OLLEY explains more.

It’s that WOW-erful, wonderful time of the year again. The BID office is gearing up for the Wonders of Westside, otherwise known as the WOWs awards. (And formerly known as the BOBS – the Best of Broad Street awards.)

Either way, it’s a massive event that we have great pleasure in flogging our guts out to organise.

Last year we had a virtual WOWs. That was held in Sam Morgan’s CRAFT restaurant down the mall in the ICC. It was great. Then all restaurants were closed, so it was kind of special just to be inside a restaurant having a cup of coffee.

I recall we also had takeaway pizza – all within the regulations at the time. Not sure if Sam does takeaway pizza on his fine dining menu nowadays!

Listen to this vlog and see previous WOWs events here:

This year we have a really special event lined up for all our venues. I can say it’s at Rosie’s, and the cost is only £35 a head.

We have the “voice of youth” presenting along with a real glamourous lady. She will complement the “voice of youth” exquisitely. A team made in heaven, indeed.

We are looking to get a top act on board, one that really will get our youthful audience dancing in the isles. DJ Corey of Velvet and the Nightingale is booked. Corey is 100% going to get things moving.

Plenty of awards to be given out and I can guarantee we will be trending on Twitter as we have done for the last few years.

Now not a lot is solid there, but please understand we have to firm up details. Often all this hard work is vanquished at the last moment. We do have snapper Sansi booked to take photos of all you lucky winners. I guarantee a night to remember.

Role on the WOWs, the last Sunday in January 2022. Book early to avoid disappointment as space is restricted.

Nomination forms for the awards are now available here: https://westsidebid.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/WOWs-2022-nomination-form.pdf

Download the form, fill it in and return it to the BID office or scan and send it back to elaine.weir@westsidebid.co.uk by Thursday 16 December 2021.
