Local BBC radio interviews Westside BID on vaccine passports

Top presenter Caroline Martin invited Westside BID onto her BBC Radio WM radio show on Monday to discuss the latest on vaccine passports.

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, discussed how he was not in favour of vaccine passports because of the problems they could cause for the busy nightlife sector.

He said: “There are all sorts of complications. You only need one in 20 or one in 40 where a conversation is needed and it will soon hold the queue up.

“When you’re trying to load up a nightclub up it’s like loading a bus up – the amount of people going in there – and it’s critical how you manage queues.

“Passports are difficult to manage and will cause all sorts of problems and issues that we don’t want. If we have to cope with them [in the future] we will, but we don’t really want vaccine passports.”

Caroline also talked with Mike about customer levels on Broad Street and how numbers are steadily building back up. To listen to the full interview, visit: https://youtu.be/n5AT9WEc5BI

  1. Like many older people, we’re excited about visiting our 2 adult children in the US next year but didn’t know how to prove our Covid jabs without a Covid passport. Fast forward: there’s a NHS app which contains your Covid details so I’ve now downloaded it. Needs to be publicised more!
