POSTPONED: the first Westside Floating Writers’ Festival delayed until 2022

The first Westside Floating Writers’ Festival that was planned for the district’s canal network this August has been postponed until 2022.

The literary weekend was to have seen a range of well-known authors, songwriters, poets, playwrights and other creative writers take part in public sessions on scenic barge rides.

But the event has now been put back to 2022 because of continuing concerns over the uncertainty that COVID-19 has created.

Luisa Huggins, media and communications manager at Westside BID, said: “Regrettably, we’ve made the decision to postpone this year’s Westside Floating Writers’ Festival.

“Safety is a number one priority to us, and we’d like to revisit it at some point next year when it can be enjoyed safely by writers and the public.

“We really appreciate the passion and enthusiasm shown by writers who had agreed to attend, and we look forward to working with them again next year.”
