Take 100-seconds to watch new marquees go up outside Velvet Music Rooms

No effort was spared by specialist teams and staff at Velvet Music Rooms on Broad Street as a safe and cosy marquee structure was erected.

Hundreds of customers headed to the favourite nightspot on Friday night, attracted by the new temporary covering.

Mike Olley, general manager at Westside BID, said: “What a great team effort! The video might only take 100 seconds to watch, but the blood, sweat and tears of joy that went into making this superb space outside Velvet Music Rooms was incredible.

“This really has made Broad Street’s longest standing independent bar and nightclub the place to visit now that hospitality venues are reopening.

“The work teams involved were so determined to get the marquee up for the weekend, and the management and staff at Velvet were so excited to be serving under their new structure.

“This really will go down as one of the great achievements as we emerge from lockdown, creating a truly European café-bar atmosphere out on Broad Street.”

Sisters Dani Hadley and Eilis Collins, who are both owner-directors at Velvet, said: “We are back, we are open, we are safe, we are as warm as possible outside and we are certainly dry!

“Everyone is welcome to join us as we responsibly start socialising with all our customers again.”
