Henry’s Blueshouse announces more gigs at Botanical Gardens

A city centre pub’s famous Blues nights are to continue rocking new audiences ‘on the road’ following the announcement of new gigs.

Henry’s Blueshouse nights, organised by Big Bear Records, have been a popular feature at the Bulls Head in Bishopsgate Street, off Broad Street, for more than a year.

But because of COVID-19 restrictions, the regular Tuesday night treats for Blues fans were transformed into Henry’s Botanical Blueshouse, with concerts staged at Birmingham Botanical Gardens every Sunday afternoon from 2pm till 4pm.

And the good news for music lovers is that the Botanical Gardens music dates have now been extended into September.

Advance booking to see the concerts is essential, but the cost of entry has been set at the Gardens’ usual £6.75 admission price plus booking fees. To obtain a ticket, visit the Botanical Gardens website at https://www.birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk/

Henry’s Blueshouse first started in 1968 by Big Bear Records founder Jim Simpson, who then revived the weekly Blues nights last year.

The Bulls Head has also regularly hosted gigs as part of the annual Birmingham Jazz Festival. This year’s postponed Birmingham, Sandwell and Westside Jazz Festival, which is backed by Westside BID, is due to take place from October 16 to 25.

Henry’s Botanical Blueshouse forthcoming dates gigs will see C Jam on 30 August, The Frenzies on 6 September, The Catfish Kings on 13 September and The Nightcrawlers on 20 September.
