Mindfulness workshops on Westside start next week

Get creative on Westside with two opportunities to make something nice while also boosting your mental well-being.

Mental health charity Birmingham Mind, based in Quayside Tower on Broad Street, has organised two hands-on workshops – one taking place next week, and the other in October.

Both networking events take place at The Distillery pub in Sheepcote Street,

The first workshop, entitled Mindfulness Clay Making will be held on Wednesday 18 September, from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

This will be followed on Thursday 10 October by Mindfulness Jewellery Making, with the session taking place in support of World Mental Health Day from 11.45am to 1pm.

Both workshops will be led by instructor Rachel Akers, with tickets for each event including a £5 donation to Birmingham Mind, plus a welcome drink and a slice of pizza.

Participants at the 18 September event will spend one hour and 45 minutes exploring the world of clay, while gradually making their own chosen masterpiece. All the necessary tools and materials will be provided on the day.

The jewellery making workshop on 10 October invites people to learn how to make a pair of dazzling earrings using wire and gemstones.

The instructor will guide them on using different sizes of wire, before choosing gemstones from a variety of diverse colours and shapes to add to the creations they will take home. People can also bring any personal gemstones to incorporate into their design.

A Birmingham Mind spokesperson said the workshops were a perfect opportunity for people to relax, unwind and try something different while also making new connections at the same time.
