Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre has secured the Green Key International Sustainability Award for 2025, reaffirming its commitment to environmentally responsible hospitality.
Green Key is a leading global eco-label for tourism and hospitality businesses, awarded only to organisations that meet strict sustainability standards set by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Assessments cover staff training, guest engagement, and the responsible management of energy, water, waste, cleaning products, and food and beverage operations.
The recognition follows a full hotel refurbishment that prioritised sustainability, including energy-efficient lighting and temperature systems, waste-reduction measures during construction, and the donation of replaced bedding to charity.
The hotel has also introduced further environmental improvements, such as high-efficiency air-conditioning units, refurbished lift mechanics, and new energy-efficient boilers.

General Manager Siobhan Thomasson said:
“We are incredibly proud to once again receive the Green Key International Sustainability Award. This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team to delivering exceptional guest experiences in a way that respects and protects our environment.
“Our recent refurbishment has transformed every area of the hotel, and sustainability guided every decision we made, from the materials we selected to the technology we installed. We’re committed to continuing this journey and ensuring that our guests can enjoy a premium stay that’s also planet friendly.
With every step, Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre is proving that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand.
