Westside BIDs free Women’s Safety Masterclass, held on the 22nd September at the Crowne Plaza on Westside, was a resounding success — bringing practical empowerment and real-life safety tools to local women.
Led by martial arts expert and safety advocate Fay Goodman, the interactive session offered essential skills in self-protection, situational awareness, and personal confidence. Attendees praised the workshop’s hands-on approach; with many reporting they felt more empowered and prepared after the event.

Fay Goodman, known internationally for her work, brought decades of expertise to the room. Her engaging and hands-on teaching style allowed attendees to explore key skills such as:
- Trusting intuition to anticipate or avoid risk.
- Verbal and physical techniques for navigating difficult or threatening situations.
- Building situational awareness in everyday life.
- Cultivating selfconfidence.
Attendance was strong, and feedback extremely positive. Women reported leaving not only with new physical skills, but also mental tools, mindset shifts around personal safety, renewed confidence walking daily routes, and clearer strategies for handling uncertainty.
