B: Music is a key partner in Healing Arts Birmingham, a new city-wide festival exploring how arts and culture can support healthier, more connected communities.
Taking place from the 22nd–26th June 2026, the initiative is the first of its kind in England, bringing together organisations from the arts, culture and public health sectors. Led by Birmingham City Council and the Jameel Arts & Health Lab in collaboration with the World Health Organization, the programme features exhibitions, performances, research events, policy discussions and community activities across the city.
B: Music will host the festival’s Opening Ceremony at Symphony Hall on Monday 22 June, welcoming artists, researchers, policymakers and civic leaders. The event will outline the ambitions of the week and showcase Birmingham’s growing leadership in creative health through talks and performances.

“At B: Music, we see first-hand the extraordinary impact that music can have on people’s lives. Whether it’s helping to reduce loneliness, supporting wellbeing, building confidence or bringing communities together, music has a unique ability to create meaningful connections.
We are incredibly proud to be a central partner in Healing Arts Birmingham and to host the festival’s Opening Ceremony at Symphony Hall. The festival provides a powerful opportunity to showcase the outstanding work taking place across Birmingham and to demonstrate the vital role that arts and culture can play in creating healthier, happier and more equitable communities.”
Throughout the festival, Symphony Hall will also host a series of free lunchtime performances in its B: Eats café space, including a performance by the acclaimed disabled artist Kris Halpin, who uses innovative MiMu Gloves technology to create and perform music.
Healing Arts Birmingham runs from the 22nd –26th June 2026 at venues and community spaces across the city.
