Tahir Parvaz has been recognised by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham for more than a decade of outstanding community engagement work across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
As he prepares to leave the Canal & River Trust after five years as Engagement Manager, Tahir is being celebrated for his role in delivering projects that brought communities together, supported healthier lifestyles and strengthened connections with Birmingham’s waterways. His achievements include supporting the legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, developing Birmingham Paddle Hubs and championing community wellbeing initiatives.
Tahir Parvaz said:
“Working in partnership with Westside BID has been a highlight of my time in Birmingham, helping to showcase the city’s canals as vital spaces for community wellbeing and local heritage. From clean‑up walks to celebrating cultural events like Black History Month, to proud moments like the Black Sabbath bridge renaming, it’s been an inspiring journey—and while I’ll miss the collaboration, I look forward to continuing to champion Birmingham’s growth and beauty in the future.”
