Birmingham enjoyed an unexpected moment of celebrity buzz last week as UK rock artist Yungblud made a low-key stop at the canal-side pub The Tap and Spile ahead of his performance at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on Westside.
The singer is said to have spent around an hour at the venue during a Wednesday daytime visit, taking in the relaxed waterside setting and speaking warmly with staff and visitors. According to Millie, the Duty General Manager on shift at the time, he came across as “lovely, friendly, and very humble,” taking time to chat, pose for photographs, and step outside for pictures by the pub’s sign.

The Tap and Spile, already busy at the time, quickly became a focal point for fans and passers-by who learned of his appearance, with new visitors continuing to arrive throughout the day to ask about the surprise guest.
In recognition of the visit, staff played Yungblud’s music throughout the day and into the evening, both before and after his concert, helping to create a lively atmosphere for fans and turning the venue into an informal gathering point around the show.

The artist was also seen spending time by the canal outside the pub, enjoying a quiet pause before continuing his day in the city.
Adding to the day’s significance, Yungblud was later pictured on Instagram at Westside BID’s Black Sabbath bench, where he sat with his arm around the Metal cut out of the late Ozzy Osbourne in a quietly emotional tribute following the singer’s recent passing. The moment carried added poignancy in a city so deeply tied to his legacy and served as a heartfelt nod to Birmingham’s enduring connection with rock history through pioneers such as Black Sabbath.
His visit reflects the city’s strong place in British music culture, with fan encounters and historic sites mixing into the lead-up to major shows. As Yungblud continues his world tour, these moments highlight his growing bond with fans, balancing high-energy performances with down-to-earth appearances across the country.
