As winter weather grips the city, Westside BID continues to deliver its vital warden service, with teams out on the streets despite snow and freezing conditions. While many take shelter from the cold, Westside Wardens are pushing through difficult weather to help keep the district safe, accessible and welcoming for everyone who works in, lives in, or visits the area.
Beyond supporting businesses and the public, wardens are playing a crucial role in assisting people sleeping rough, who are among the most vulnerable during extreme cold. The team regularly checks on individuals, offers reassurance, shares information about support services, and works with partner organisations to help connect people with emergency accommodation where possible.

Westside Warden Enoch White said:
“These conditions are incredibly tough for everyone, but especially for those sleeping rough. Our priority is making sure people are safe, checked on and supported, while continuing to look after the district for businesses, staff and visitors. No matter the weather, our wardens are out there doing what they can to help.”
Their presence on the streets during harsh conditions is not just about visibility or safety — it’s about compassion and care. From guiding pedestrians through icy areas to ensuring those without shelter are not forgotten, Westside BID Wardens continue to demonstrate their commitment to the district and its community when it matters most.
In challenging weather, their work is a reminder that looking after a city means looking after its people — especially those most in need.
