Westside BID is encouraging professionals from across Birmingham’s business community to swap the office for the city’s iconic canal network as it hosts a free event aimed to foster local connections and try out a new hobbie.
Designed to offer a refreshing break from the working day, the lunchtime event combines networking with a relaxed outdoor art session, giving attendees the chance to connect with others while sketching one of Birmingham’s most recognisable landscapes.
Set beside the canals at the Distillery, participants will be guided through an informal drawing activity inspired by the city’s historic waterways led by local artist Lee Benson. The session is designed to help people slow down, enjoy their surroundings and spark conversations in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

No artistic experience is required. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or simply looking for a mindful way to spend your lunch break, the event is about taking time to unwind, get creative and meet new people from across the local business community.
All art materials will be provided, along with light refreshments, meaning attendees can simply turn up and enjoy the experience.
The Creative Lunch Club is part of Westside BID’s ongoing programme of events aimed at bringing businesses together, encouraging collaboration and promoting wellbeing alongside professional networking. By blending creativity with conversation, the event offers a different approach to making new connections in one of Birmingham’s most distinctive settings.
Places are limited, and advance booking is recommended through the Eventbrite page.
