Under Two Weeks to Go: Birmingham Light Festival Returns

Birmingham Light Festival returns from the 12th –15th February 2026, celebrating the city’s creative talent with a programme of large-scale light artworks, live performances and participatory events across the city. Local artists, musicians and organisations are at the heart of this year’s festival, which will transform familiar locations into illuminated spaces for connection and creativity.

Highlights include FORGED at Bullring, featuring performances by spoken word artist Amerah Saleh and Birmingham metal band Insurgent. New works by Birmingham artists Jack Quddus (NeonCow) and Richard O’Gorman will also feature, alongside the new Love on the Line installation at Birmingham New Street, inviting visitors to write love letters to the city.

Alex Nicholson-Evans, Birmingham City Curator and Festival Director, said:

“We can’t wait to light up the city once again. This year’s programme is packed with some really exciting artworks and events and we’re so proud that local artists, performers and organisations have played such a huge part in bringing the festival to life. We’re counting down the days until we can show everyone what we’ve collectively put together.”

The festival offers mapped walking routes, group activities, pop-up performances, travel discounts via West Midlands Metro and climate-focused events at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Birmingham Light Festival promises to be a major celebration of local talent and a spectacular event for the city, lighting up streets and public spaces with stunning installations, live performances, and interactive experiences that showcase the very best of Birmingham’s creativity.
