Ikon is inviting applications for two positions supporting a major new arts programme at HMP Grendon and HMP Spring Hill: an Artist in Residence and a Programme Evaluator, for the 2027–29 period.
Produced by Ikon and funded by the Rothschild Foundation, Art at HMP Grendon and Spring Hill is a three-year artist residency exploring creative practice within the prison environment.
The successful Artist in Residence will develop an ambitious body of work informed by their artistic interests and media, responding to the carceral setting and engaging with the communities at both prisons. HMP Grendon is a category B, all-male psychotherapeutic prison, while HMP Spring Hill is a category D, all-male open prison. The two institutions share the same site and governance.

Working alongside the artist, the Programme Evaluator will be based on-site and embedded across the residency, documenting and assessing the programme’s development and impact.
Full details of both opportunities, including application requirements, are available here:- https://www.ikon-gallery.org/about/jobs
Application deadline: Wednesday 30th September 2026,
