Businesses Find Inspiration at Westside BID’s Creative Lunch Club.

Professionals from across Birmingham’s business community swapped their desks for sketchbooks as Westside BID’s first Creative Lunch Club brought together creativity, networking and wellbeing in a unique lunchtime event.

Held at The Distillery overlooking Birmingham’s historic canal network, the session encouraged local business representatives to step away from the workplace and enjoy a relaxed outdoor drawing class led by local artist Lee Benson.

With pencils replacing laptops, attendees spent their lunch break sketching one of the city’s most recognisable landscapes while making new professional connections in an informal setting. No previous artistic experience was required.

The event formed part of Westside BID’s ongoing commitment to supporting workplace wellbeing and creating opportunities for businesses to connect outside of traditional networking environments. By combining creativity with conversation, the initiative offered participants a chance to slow down, reduce stress and engage with colleagues from across the district in a refreshing new way.

Media and Communications Manager Luisa Huggins said:

“One of the most rewarding aspects of the Creative Lunch Club was seeing people from different businesses chatting, encouraging one another and leaving with a genuine sense of achievement. It wasn’t about producing the perfect drawing – it was about creating an opportunity for people to connect in a different environment and return to work feeling refreshed.

The positive feedback we’ve received shows there’s a real appetite for events that support both professional relationships and personal wellbeing. We’re excited to continue developing initiatives that bring our business community together in engaging and meaningful ways.”

Westside BID will continue creating opportunities for businesses to connect, collaborate and prioritise wellbeing through engaging community events.
