Several Westside venues have been recognised for their outstanding commitment to customer safety after successfully passing independent Ask for Angela assessments.
Popular venues including All Bar One, Reflex, Coyote Ugly, O’Neill’s and Barbra’s Bier Haus all achieved excellent results during undercover inspections designed to assess how well staff respond to vulnerable customers requesting assistance through the nationally recognised Ask for Angela scheme.

The discreet inspections ensure venues are properly supporting customers who may feel unsafe or require help, reinforcing the importance of staff training and vigilance in Birmingham’s night-time economy.
To mark their achievement, The Westside Business Improvement District invited the successful venues to the Lord Mayor’s Office, where they received official recognition during a special presentation celebrating their commitment to creating safer, more welcoming environments for everyone.

Westside BID’s Business Liaison Manager Elaine Weir said:
“We are incredibly proud of the venues that have demonstrated such high standards in supporting vulnerable customers. The Ask for Angela initiative is an important part of making Birmingham’s nightlife safe and inclusive, and these awards recognise the dedication of venue teams who put customer welfare first.”
Westside BID continues to work closely with businesses, local authorities, and partner organisations to promote best practice across the district, ensuring visitors can enjoy the city’s vibrant hospitality scene with confidence.
