Westside venues keep Ozzy’s legacy alive with music, food and tribute events.

One year after the passing of Birmingham music legend Ozzy Osbourne, Westside BID is highlighting a series of events, live music and attractions across the district celebrating the life and enduring legacy of the Prince of Darkness.

Leading the celebrations is The Flapper, which is hosting a month-long tribute from the 26th June to 30th July. The iconic canalside rock venue has curated a packed programme featuring talks, live rock and metal performances, an Ozzy-inspired food and drink menu celebrating the Black Sabbath frontman and Birmingham’s legendary metal heritage.

Among the limited-edition menu items are The Ozzy Burger and The Sabbath, a Birmingham-inspired burger made with locally produced Pips Black Mass hot sauce. A vegan option is also available.

Fans looking for the perfect keepsake photograph can also visit The Flapper’s famous “Birmingham Forever” mural, which has become one of the city’s most recognisable backdrops.

The commemorations continue at the Brasshouse, where a special programme of live music will mark the first anniversary of Ozzy’s passing. Highlights include an In Memory of Ozzy tribute performance by Sabbotage on Wednesday 22nd July, followed by the Back to the Brasshouse weekend from the 24th –26th July, featuring performances celebrating Black Sabbath classics alongside Birmingham favourites.

Visitors are also encouraged to the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, created and maintained by Westside BID. The Black Sabbath Bench offers more than just a place to sit. Visitors can scan the QR code on the bench to access a camera positioned opposite, which captures a photo of them sitting on the bench.

Fans can also explore Birmingham’s wider commemoration of Ozzy Osbourne by visiting Working Class Hero at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, a major exhibition celebrating his extraordinary life and career through memorabilia, photographs and much more. They can also head to Navigation Street to see the striking Black Sabbath street art mural commissioned by Central BID, adding another must-visit landmark celebrating Birmingham’s heavy metal heritage.

Together, these events and attractions highlight Birmingham’s proud musical heritage, giving fans the chance to reflect on Ozzy Osbourne’s remarkable legacy in the city where it all began.
