Dozens of volunteers from across the Westside district turned out on Wednesday morning as part of the annual Spring Clean community litter pick, an environmental effort aimed at sprucing up local streets and public spaces ahead of the warmer months.
Organised by the Westside Business Improvement District, the event brought together local workers for a session of picking up litter and tidying key routes around the district.
Business Liaison Manager Elaine Weir said:
“Events like today show how much we can achieve when we work together It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come along, socialise and enjoy the rewarding feeling of making sure the area is kept really clean and tidy for visitors and people who work within the district.”
The Westside Spring Clean is part of a broader series of seasonal efforts by Westside BID to enhance cleanliness throughout the district — a high‑footfall area that attracts thousands of visitors annually. Community litter picks have become a regular feature of the BID’s environmental initiatives.
By early afternoon on Wednesday, volunteers had cleared numerous bags of litter, leaving Westside visibly fresher and demonstrating how relatively small community efforts can make a noticeable difference to public spaces.
