Westside BID is celebrating Black History Month by highlighting the experiences and perspectives of professionals from diverse backgrounds working across the Westside area.
As part of the initiative, Westside BID interviewed Bethany Smith, Front of House Manager at Tricorn House, to discuss the importance of diversity and representation in leadership.
Located on Hagley Road near Five Ways, Tricorn House is a modern workspace in Westside, home to a diverse range of businesses. With contemporary offices, flexible studios and on-site amenities, it provides a welcoming environment for professionals to work and connect.
Asked how important it is to see greater representation of people from diverse backgrounds in leadership roles, Bethany emphasised the power of visibility and its ability to inspire others.

“It’s super important because if you see someone who looks like you, it gives you the motivation and the drive to get into leadership positions,” she said.
Bethany also highlighted the positive impact of diverse leadership, explaining how people from different backgrounds can bring fresh perspectives, inspire others and help create a more inclusive and supportive workplace for everyone.
Her perspective highlights the importance of creating workplaces where people from all backgrounds can see opportunities for progression and feel empowered to pursue leadership roles.
Through its Black History Month interview series, Westside BID is celebrating the voices, achievements and contributions of people shaping the local business community, while championing greater representation and inclusion across the workplace.
