The Westside BID team had the privilege of welcoming Sharon Osbourne yesterday , ahead of today’s inaugural Ozzy Day celebrations.
The visit came as Birmingham prepared to honour one of its most famous sons, Ozzy Osbourne, whose pioneering role in heavy metal transformed music forever.
Westside BID commissioned and continues to maintain the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge on Broad Street. Together, they have become one of Birmingham’s most recognisable cultural landmarks, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Fans travel from across the UK and around the world to celebrate the birthplace of heavy metal, pay tribute to Black Sabbath and honour the enduring legacy of Ozzy Osbourne.
As Birmingham comes together to celebrate its first Ozzy Day, the city is recognising the life, achievements and lasting legacy of one of its greatest cultural icons. It is a day for fans, residents and visitors alike to reflect on the immense pride Ozzy has brought to his hometown and the lasting impact he has had on music around the world.
The city’s Ozzy Day celebrations have been organised by Central BID in partnership with OPUS, bringing together a programme of events across Birmingham. Westside BID is proud to be a sponsor of Ozzy Day, supporting the celebrations alongside its ongoing stewardship of the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge.
