Independent Japanese restaurant chain Panko Sushi is set to open its first Birmingham location at Brindleyplace later this year, marking another step in the company’s rapid UK expansion.
The new restaurant will occupy just under 1,400 sq. ft. on the ground floor of Foundry, 6 Brindleyplace, overlooking Central Square. Scheduled to open in autumn 2026 following a summer fit-out, the venue will serve a menu of Japanese favourites including sushi, katsu, teriyaki and ramen, with both dine-in and takeaway options available.
The Birmingham opening follows recent launches in Crosby and forms part of Panko Sushi’s continued growth, with a further site planned for Newcastle-under-Lyme in January 2027.

Matt Long, Senior Asset Manager for Praxis at Brindleyplace, said:
“We’re pleased to be welcoming Panko Sushi to Brindleyplace. Taking a prime position overlooking Central Square, this latest addition to our 26-strong food and beverage offering will provide not only another excellent dining experience but also a great grab and go option for office workers and visitors alike.”
Edward Cayton, MD for Panko Sushi added:
“Brindleyplace represents a great opportunity for our business, and we hope it will quickly become our best-performing location due to the high footfall the central location affords and its proximity to major venues including the Utilita Arena and ICC.
Panko Sushi is excited to bring the taste of Japan to Birmingham offering an affordable, high quality dining offer whether customers eat-in or takeaway.”
