Westside BID is looking for volunteers to take part in a community litter pick as part of the annual Westside Spring Clean; an initiative aimed at improving the local environment.
Organised by the Westside Business Improvement District, the event will bring together residents, local workers and members of the community to help tidy streets and public spaces across the district, including key areas around Civic Close.
The litter pick and other enhanced cleaning operations form part of wider seasonal efforts to maintain cleanliness in Westside, a high-footfall area that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Participants will be provided with all necessary equipment, making the event accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Business Liaison Manager Elaine Weir said:
“The initiative is about both immediate impact and long-term change, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining the area.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone… to come along, socialise and enjoy the rewarding feeling of making sure the area is kept really clean and tidy for visitors. Light refreshments will be provided afterwards”.
Community litter picks have become a regular part of the BID’s environmental programme, with previous sessions drawing strong support and removing significant volumes of waste from streets and canal paths. The Spring Clean edition is expected to build on that momentum as the city moves into the warmer months.

The Westside Spring Clean reflects a broader push across the city to encourage community action demonstrating how small, collective efforts can make a visible difference.
