Westside Christmas Choir serenades staff and visitors at Baskerville House

Members of the Westside Christmas Choir filled the halls of Baskerville House with comfort and joy when they sang a selection of carols.

Office workers’ spirits were infused with traditional festive songs as they stepped in and out of the lifts during the lunchtime in the main central hall, as you can see in our video here:

Originally completed in 1938, the famous building was renovated and extended at a cost of £30 million from 2003-2007. It includes the city’s coat of arms and ‘Forward’ motto.

The singers and guitarist Ollie Pinnock sang and performed everything from White Christmas to Hark The Herald Angels Sing and Joy To The World, with some songs given a decidedly gospel style uplift.

The singers, who were drawn from church and Town Hall choirs, included Emma Beckford, Ikericia Isene, Kim Beckford, Vivine Riley, Geneta Butler, Michelle Morris McCalla, Barbra Lammy, Westside BID’s media and communications manager Louisa Huggins and business liaison manager Elaine Weir.

They were all treated to hot chocolate drinks with marshmallows after their hour-long performance.

Elaine said: “We’ve delivered Christmas presents around Brindleyplace and now sang carols in Baskerville House.

“All part of helping everyone to feel welcome within our business improvement district at this very important time of the year and with so much to look forward to in 2024.”

Praise the Lord!
